“Becoming the UK’s No.1 outdoor cinema company is something that we are super proud of and something that we never really set out to achieve,” says Adventure Cinema’s Ben Lovell of his and co-founder Mark Thompson’s surprise success.
Launched in 2019, they specialize in bringing the magic of film to stunning outdoor venues across the UK, including forests, manor houses, and castles. As well as watching movies under the stars, guests can also enjoy pre-movie entertainment and delicious treats from on-site food vendors.
Priding themselves on creating a fun atmosphere as they bring local communities together, Ben, Mark, and their team now deliver over 300 shows every year, at 65+ venues.
“We have had shows at so many incredible venues, including the likes of the Eden Project and Alnwick Castle (which served as Hogwarts in the first Harry Potter movie),” Ben recalls.
“But our favorite will always be our first-ever show, which was The Lion King at The National Botanic Garden of Wales. This was the catalyst for everything that has happened since, and the event that made us realize that we had something special.
”With Adventure Cinema's growth being so rapid and having to navigate Covid, Ben admits that the journey has been far from easy, but credits the hard work of their “amazing team” for making the company an industry leader.
